The SJ/C Georgia Southern University Nightingale Scholarship
St. Joseph's/Candler is honoring the lives of five Georgia Southern Nursing Students who died in a car accident on their way to their last day of clinicals at St. Joseph's Hospital in 2015. The entire region was shocked by the tragic incident but it hit very hard with the St. Joseph's/Candler co-workers who helped the students learn the art and science of nursing.
Now, in their memories, the St. Joseph’s/Candler Foundations will make an annual scholarship award to a Georgia Southern School of Nursing student who has completed a clinical rotation at St. Joseph’s/Candler. The student who receives the scholarship must display exemplary professional nursing practice as did the women who were tragically lost.
Please consider making a gift below to support this scholarship.
Gifts made to support the tuition scholarship honor the memory of Emily Clark, Catherine (McKay) Pittman, Morgan Bass, Abbie Deloach and Caitlyn Baggett and honor the strength of the surviving women Brittney McDaniel and Megan Richards. Those who worked with these women noted their eagerness to learn, inquisitive and caring nature and the positive way in which they interacted with their patients. These qualities will be sought in the recipient of the Nightingale Scholarship.
