FY24 Funding Highlights & Community Impact
- Nurse Navigation Program support for 12 Nurse Navigators and Patient Resource navigators at the Nancy N. and J. C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion. Navigators help guide patients through the sometimes confusing and, at times, scary journey through cancer treatment providing support through patient empowerment, communication of clinical information, education and resources for treatment and survivorship guidelines, care coordination and advocacy for patient and their caregivers.
- St. Mary’s Health Center and the Good Samaritan Clinic – support for nurse practitioners to provide non-emergent healthcare and primary care (5,013 visits) for uninsured patients; 1,006 Cancer screenings provided (cervical, breast, prostate, colorectal & lung) for patients in need.
- St. Mary’s Community Center – 24 participants thru Fast Track Skills program, 181 job applications completed and submitted; 151 resumes prepared; 48 new jobs obtained; 538 individuals assisted with preparing and filing taxes resulting in $1,003,853 refunded to the local economy; 410 Seniors assisted with health and housing needs; 3,090 eye exams and glasses provided; 138 children enrolled in Children’s Medicaid; 2,918 encounters for assistance with public benefits
- Cancer Survivorship Support for oncology patients in need – 191 patients in 71 different zip codes between GA and SC received a total of 1,706 one way rides through gas cards and LYFT gift cards; 437 nights of lodging assistance
- Mary Telfair Women’s Hospital – purchase of Neonatal Transport Incubators, which provides the most advanced, state-of-the-art technology for safe, stable transportation of sick infants to the NICU.
- Music Therapy Program – professional musicians interact and perform live music for patients in the waiting to receive cancer treatments at the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion; touched countless patients and their families going through challenging times
- Telfair Mammography Fund for the under and uninsured – 721 imaging services evaluated by radiologists; 507 screening mammograms; 87 breast ultrasounds; 115 diagnostic mammograms; 28 breast biopsies
- Howard Hand in Hand –support program for children coping with the serious illness of a parent or loved one; 323 families impacted by the support of the program *this is a free service offered to anyone in need
- Pastoral care program – more than 25,169 souls touched by pastoral care visits
