St. Joseph's/Candler, Summit Cancer Care expand cancer treatment into Statesboro
The Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion - Statesboro has opened an oncology infusion center on the East Georgia Regional Medical Center campus with the physicians of SJ/C Summit Cancer Care. The center offers the latest in cancer treatment at a brand new oncology infusion center in Statesboro, allowing patients in Bulloch County and surrounding communities to get chemotherapy and other infusion services closer to home.
It is the only oncology infusion practice in Bulloch County, and its location makes for quick access to specialists and medical services. Adding medical oncology in Bulloch County furthers St. Joseph's/Candler's mission to bring oncology services closer to where people live.
The new Statesboro facility is located at 1497 Fair Road, Suite 311, Statesboro, Ga. 30458, in the East Georgia Regional Medical Office Building.

The physicians at SJ/C Summit Cancer Care have been seeing patients in the Statesboro community for a number of years and were instrumental in working with the Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion to provide medical oncologists to staff the new infusion location.
All of the physicians at this new location participate in the NCORP program and Clinical Effectiveness Teams in Savannah and include Dr. Grant Lewis, Dr. Ronald Goldberg, Dr. L.E. Bud Robertson and Dr. Drew White.
The new space in Statesboro is approximately 3,400 square feet. The state-of-the-art facility contains:
- Space for nine infusion chairs
- Four exam and procedure rooms for medical oncologists
- On-site blood draw lab
Services offered at the Pembroke location include:
- Chemotherapy
- Immunotherapy
- IV Hydration/Electrolytes
- IV Iron Infusions
- Port Flushes
- Injections
- Therapeutic Phlebotomy
Additionally, the Statesboro center will benefit from the expertise of the National Cancer Institute’s Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP), which the LCRP and Summit Cancer Care have been a part of for more than six years. This will provide patients in that area access to evidence-based cancer care and the benefits of the latest clinical trials.
St. Joseph’s/Candler and the LCRP have had a longstanding goal to bring the best cancer treatments to people where they live. We’ve been rapidly expanding cancer treatment programs across the region for the benefit and convenience of our patients. Centers have opened in Jesup, Pembroke, Hinesville and Statesboro, in addition to our recent expansion in Bluffton, S.C.
