Board Certified Obstetrician Hospitalists provide emergency and around-the-clock care at St. Joseph's/Candler
St. Joseph’s/Candler has an extra layer of physician expertise that provides additional safety and peace of mind for moms in labor at the Telfair BirthPlace at Candler Hospital. Board-certified OB hospitalists are on staff 24 hours a day, every day to care for women who are pregnant, going into labor or just gave birth.
With an OB Hospitalist, expectant mothers will receive consistent, top-level medical care by a highly-skilled physician at every point of her delivery.
What is an OB Hospitalist?
An OB hospitalist is a trained OB/GYN physician who only sees patients in the hospital setting. An OB hospitalist cares for laboring patients and manages obstetric and gynecological emergencies and can serve as an extender and support for the personal OB/GYN physicians who guided expecting mothers through their pregnancy.
You may need an OB hospitalist when:
- You come in with an emergency (such as elevated blood pressure)
- While your OB is in route or unavailable
- The beginning stages of labor
OB hospitalists do not replace the care you receive from your regular OB/GYN. Instead, they serve as an extension of your doctor and will deliver a complete treatment report to your doctor so you receive consistent and thorough care.
SJ/C is partnering with Ob Hospitalist Group (OBHG) to provide this dedicated service.
Some or all of the health care professionals performing services in this hospital are independent contractors and are not hospital agents or employees. Independent contractors are responsible for their own actions and the hospital shall not be liable for the acts or omissions of any such independent contractors.
