St. Joseph’s/Candler, Savannah-Chatham County Public School System partner to open health clinic at Beach High
The Community Education and Health Screening Clinic at Beach High School is now open to the public to assist with screenings, education and referrals.
The clinic is a partnership between St. Joseph’s/Candler and the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System. It’s staffed by a St. Joseph’s/Candler certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Allied Health Medical Specialty students at Beach High.
The clinic is offering free health screenings to community members. The students, in turn, get experience working with and serving actual patients. Screenings offered at the clinic include:
- Blood pressure checks
- Cholesterol testing
- Diabetes testing
- Obesity/Body Mass Index testing
- Height and weight
The clinic also offers educational opportunities, can refer patients to medical facilities and help patients find a medical home. For St. Joseph’s/Candler employees, the location also can serve as a site for their annual month of hire wellness screening.
The clinic does not see sick patients.
The Community Education and Health Screening Clinic is open to area residents in addition to students, staff and alumni. Screenings are free for all. Participants who receive screenings will be required to attend an onsite counseling session.
