St. Joseph's/Candler is excited to host several summer camps for kids starting in June. Whatever your interest is, we have something for you!
African-American Health Information & Resource Center Camps

Health Kids Cooking Camp

Camp FUN (Fitness & Understanding Nutrition)
Campers ages 5 -13 participate in a two week camp utilizing the We Can! Program (Ways to Enhance Children’s Activity and Nutrition). We integrate fun/engaging/creative exercise games and activities with nutrition topics and hands-on demonstrations led by Exercise Physiologists and Dieticians.
Topics include:
- Balancing Energy In and Energy Out - Balancing What We Eat with How We Play/Move
- Hydration - Exposing the Hidden Sugars in Everyday Beverages
- How to Make Healthy Food Choices
- MyPlate Activities
- Portion Control
Supervised Fitness Activities include: Rock Climbing, Canoeing, Zip Lining, Color Run, Swimming
DATE: June 11th to June 15th and June 18th to June 22nd
LOCATION: Islands YMCA, Wilmington Island
COSTS: $40 Registration fee, Member $240/Non Members $350

TrainSmart Summer Strength & Conditioning Camp
If your child is currently involved in a sports team and wants to improve his/her game, then this camp is for your child. The Wellness Center is offering a very unique, fun and challenging summer sports camp experience. This camp is designed for the younger athlete, 8-13 years of age, who wants to work on their overall strength, speed, agility, and conditioning. The camp is divided into two sessions, Speed & Agility training in the morning followed by Strength Training and Conditioning in the afternoon. Both sessions are taught by certified fitness trainers. Spaces are limited.
Camp Date & Time: June 4th – 8th 8:45 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Cost: $135 (TrainSmart t-shirt included)
Morning Drop Off: 8:30 am at the Memorial Day School gym at 6500 Habersham Street
Afternoon Pick-Up: 3:00 pm in the Memorial Day School gym
What to Bring: Athletic shoes for both indoor and outdoor activities. Wear loose fitting, and comfortable clothing.
Lunch: Bring a healthy lunch and water bottle (recommended)
