2017 Wellness and Fitness Summer Camps Announced

With the end of the school year just around the corner, parents should consider the summer camp programs being offered by St. Joseph’s/Candler. Naturally, each camp has wellness at its core.

TrainSmart Strength and Conditioning Summer Camp

If you are currently involved in a sports team and you want to improve your game, then this camp is for you. The St. Joseph’s/Candler Wellness Center is offering a very unique, fun and challenging summer sports camp experience. This camp is designed for the younger athlete, 8-13 years of age, who wants to work on their overall strength, speed, agility, and conditioning. The camp is divided into two sessions, Speed & Agility training in the morning followed by Strength Training and Conditioning in the afternoon. Both sessions are taught by certified fitness trainers. 

WHEN: 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., June 5-9
REGISTRATION: Begins March 15 (Online registration only)
LOCATION: St. Vincent's Academy gym, 207 W. Liberty St., Savannah (on the corner of Lincoln and Harris streets)
FOR WHO: 8-13  years old
COST: $125 a week

Camp FUN

Campers aged 5-13 years participate in a two week camp utilizing the We Can! Program (Ways to Enhance Children’s Activity and Nutrition). This camp focuses on fitness and understanding nutrition. #BestSummerEver

WHEN: June 19 to June 30
REGISTRATION: Begins March 15
LOCATION: Islands YMCA, 66 Johnny Mercer Blvd., Savannah
FOR WHO: 5-13
COST: $35 registration fee; member $90 per week, non members $154/per week

Camp Adam Fischer

Camp Adam Fisher is a weeklong overnight camp for children with diabetes, their brothers, sisters and friends ages 6-17. We also offer a Counselor in Training (CIT) program for teenagers ages 16-17. Kids come from all over the southeast to experience this unique opportunity, while learning more about managing their diabetes, making new friends and having a blast!

WHEN: June 10-June 17
REGISTRATION: Begins March 15
LOCATION: R.M. Cooper 4-H Leadership Center, located on a 110-acre peninsula on the Wyboo Creek section of Lake Marion in Summerton, S.C.
FOR WHO: 6-17
COST: $625 for the week, scholarships and financial aid available
