Central Referral Office
The St. Joseph’s/Candler Central Referral Office (CRO) builds a bridge between a patient’s primary care physician and local specialists. Serving a network of over 30 employed providers, the team facilitates the secure transfer of health information, acquires insurance authorization, and works to obtain initial specialist appointments in a timely manner. This centralized approach allows the CRO to be the experts in required documentation for each specialty while providing a singular point of contact for patients, insurance providers, and physician offices. As an added service to our patients, the office also has trained clinical staff that can provide general health care information and education.
The CRO does not originate new referrals for patients to see a specialist. If you feel you need to seek the care of a specialist, please consult with your primary care provider in order to obtain a referral, if required by your individual insurance plan.
