Advanced Radiation Oncology Center at the LCRP
Advanced Radiation Oncology Services at the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion (LCRP), combines cutting-edge technology with a team of highly skilled professionals to deliver personalized, effective cancer treatments. Each patient’s treatment plan is uniquely designed to ensure precision and minimize side effects, providing excellent care backed by advanced expertise.
Our radiation oncologists, physicists and therapists are extensively trained in the latest radiation oncology techniques, enabling us to target tumors accurately while protecting healthy tissues. With our accreditation from the American College of Radiology (ACR)—the only facility in the region with this distinction—you can trust us to deliver the highest standard of care.

Advanced diagnostic and treatment technology
The Radiation Oncology Services at the LCRP is equipped with some of the most advanced technologies in the world, ensuring precise and effective cancer treatment.
- Four-Dimensional (4D) CT Scanner: This advanced imaging technology captures three-dimensional images over time, accounting for tumor movement caused by breathing or other bodily functions. It enables highly accurate treatment plans that adapt to the tumor's dynamic nature, enhancing precision and safety.
- The CyberKnife®: A revolutionary robotic radiosurgery system delivering high-dose radiation with sub-millimeter accuracy. Its real-time imaging capabilities track tumor movement and adjust radiation beams, making it ideal for treating tumors in sensitive or hard-to-reach areas.
- The TrueBeam®: This innovative linear accelerator administers radiation therapy with exceptional speed and precision. Its advanced imaging and motion management technologies ensure accurate targeting, reducing treatment times and improving patient comfort.
- Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT): IGRT utilizes imaging techniques such as X-rays and CT scans taken before treatment to ensure precise targeting of tumors. It accommodates daily variations in tumor position, minimizing radiation exposure to healthy tissues.
Advanced treatment methods
- Volumetric Arc Therapy (VMAT/RapidArc): This method delivers radiation by rotating the machine around the patient in a single or multiple arcs. It allows for modulation of radiation intensity and shape, closely conforming to the tumor’s 3D shape while sparing healthy tissues. Treatments are completed quickly, often in under two minutes.
- Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT): By using advanced software and hardware, IMRT modulates radiation beam intensity, delivering higher doses to tumors while protecting surrounding healthy tissues. This precision minimizes side effects and improves outcomes, especially for complex tumors.
- Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT): delivers high-dose radiation over a few sessions, typically two to five treatments. It offers a non-invasive alternative to surgery for small, well-defined tumors. SBRT's precision and shorter treatment schedule make it a highly effective option for eligible patients.
Accredited excellence in radiation oncology
Our Radiation Oncology Program is the only ACR-accredited facility in the region, reflecting our commitment to quality, safety, and exceptional care. The ACR seal of accreditation is awarded only to facilities that meet rigorous standards through a peer-review process by board-certified radiation oncologists and medical physicists. This accreditation is evidence of our dedication to patient care, treatment accuracy, and continuous improvement.
