BLUFFTON, S.C. – The top beam was installed Wednesday on the new St. Joseph’s/Candler Bluffton Campus and Low Country residents are that much closer to consolidated medical and oncology services.
Construction on the 40,000-square-foot facility in Buckwalter Place is moving rapidly and the first phase will be open early next year. Phase one will cost $30 million with an overall cost of $35.5 million.
The campus is designed to greatly expand services and access to healthcare for a rapidly growing community. It will employ a total of 63 people with an estimated annual payroll of $6.6 million.
“Today we are celebrating a milestone event of what will eventually be a $40 plus million dollar commitment – not only to area patients but to the entire community,” said Paul P. Hinchey, President & CEO of St. Joseph’s/Candler. “As you can see, we are putting our money where our commitment is. Our commitment and investment here not only improves the health and long term well-being of this community, it serves as an economic engine that will drive more people to this area and inspire more development, more jobs, more prosperity and more innovation.”
