From leading the communications within St. Joseph’s/Candler to volunteering in the community to being a voice of compassion, Vanessa Roseman is the 25th Lientz Humanitarian. 

The 23-year-coworker is Team Leader in Communications, where she heads the folks who man the switchboard and makes sure all patients have interpreters and translation if they need them. 

“Communication is at the heart of all we do at SJ/C and Vanessa Roseman is a champion of communication, especially as it reflects our mission,” a co-worker said in nominating Roseman. “In all that she does, Vanessa is always smiling and welcoming. Her bright countenance makes one feel comfortable and happy to be at SJ/C.”

The Lientz Award includes a $3,000 check, a cafeteria pass, a parking pass, a SJ/C watch, a massage certificate and the prestigious Lientz Pin. 75 co-workers were nominated for the honor this year.

Not only does she work to make sure patients and families are taken care of, but she volunteers to help those in need. She heads the committee that administers the SJ/C Home Ownership Program that helps co-workers buy their first homes.

She also volunteers at the Coastal Children’s Advocacy Center and the Rape Crisis Center.

“She is an advocate for co-workers and seems to have a special interest in helping them. She is the epitome of the SJ/C values – upholding and living each of them.”

“Vanessa is the voice of compassion, quality, integrity courtesy, accountability and teamwork. Working closely with the nursing staff, she never loses sight of helping the patient achieve the best clinical outcome.”

“She fosters a climate of compassion for all coworkers, secretly assisting those who are in need of any type of help. On numerous occasions Vanessa has filled in for fellow co-workers who have had health or family issues.”

“Vanessa is a champion of communication, especially as it reflects our mission. This person has been heavily involved in St. Joseph’s/Candler’s Home Ownership program, volunteers with the Rape Crisis Center and is known and respected for their warmth, friendliness, helpfulness and welcoming manner.”

About the Lientz Award:

Each year, St. Joseph's/Candler presents one co-worker with the award that reflects the humanitarian works of the late James R. Lientz, a former Candler Hospital Board Chairman and community activist. Recipients are nominated by their peers. A health system committee selects the recipient based on the candidate’s exemplification of the health system’s mission and values. The mission is “Rooted in God's love, we treat illness and promote wellness for all people." The values include compassion, quality, integrity, courtesy, accountability, and teamwork.
