Sleep Disorder Center
The St. Joseph's/Candler Sleep Disorders Center specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with sleep-related disorders, which can include difficulty in falling asleep, staying asleep or remaining awake. Diagnoses may include:
- obstructive sleep apnea
- REM behavior disorder
- narcolepsy
- insomnia
- periodic limb movement disorder
- hypersomnolence (excessive drowsiness)
Many sleep disorders can be effectively treated once accurately diagnosed. We use state-of-the-art equipment and a registered polysomnographer to assist physicians in diagnoses. Polysomnogram (a sleep study designed to find abnormalities during sleep), multiple sleep latency and multiple wakefulness tests are performed in our lab. Consultants from the ear, nose and throat (ENT); surgical; pulmonary medicine and neurology departments are directly involved with our program.
