Press ReleasesFlu season precautions at St. Joseph’s/CandlerSt. Joseph’s/Candler has been actively considering new rules to protect patients and co-workers from the flu as the season unfolds. Co-workers have been following the flu guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and St. Joseph’s/Candler has been working closely with the Chatham County Health Department. Risk of transmission of H1N1 can begin one to two days before symptoms appear and young people are frequently affected. We request that: - No one with flu-like symptoms should come to St. Joseph’s Hospital or Candler Hospital to visit patients. - Patients should alert family and friends that only that only two immediate family members will be allowed to visit at a time. - Children under 18 are not allowed to visit or wait in waiting rooms. - Visitors must be free of symptoms Flu-like symptoms include: Fever (100 or more) Cough Sore throat Muscle/joint/body aches Headache Nausea/vomiting/diarrhea As the flu season progresses St. Joseph’s/Candler will continue to work with the Chatham County Health Department to reevaluate these conditions and update the community on safety precautions or any other changes in our visitation policy. |
